Below are several common issues. Check if we answered your questions. If not, you may reach out to support@unitarianchristianalliance.org or the Contact form for help. Someone will get back to you soon.
Thank you for your support.
Q: I’m getting stuck at the Password, what should I do?
We use a tool that measures the strength of the password. Short passwords like “1234” are easy to guess and not secure. We use a strength indicator tool. Because we don’t store highly sensitive information like your credit card (that’s done through PayPal), we decided to only prevent “Very Weak” passwords. If your password is still labeled as “Very Weak” try typing a few more characters to confirm the indicator is working. It is pretty easy to get past “Very Weak.”
Here’s a tip: because longer passwords are more secure (harder to hack), try incorporating a phrase that you know. A 16+ character long phrase can be easier to remember than some 8 character passwords with symbols, numbers, capitals, etc.
If you are accustomed to short or very simple passwords, we recommend getting used to longer ones. The internet is full of nefarious characters with computer skills. Avoid them as best you can.
Q: I used my credit/debit card on the Donate page (without using PayPal). Why is my membership is still listed as Free?
The Donate option is independent of your membership. It is for anyone to contribute regardless of membership status. However, because some people don’t use PayPal, we can use your donation to set your Membership status.
If you recently became a Free member, and then used the Donate page to contribute, please give us several days to update your membership to be a “Supporting Member.” We regularly check the donations and match them to the members. See the next question for more detail on how we do that.
If your information in your donation correlates to your UCA membership, then we’ll get you updated to a “Supporting Member: soon. If it’s been more than a few weeks, then we probably couldn’t match your donation to your membership–email support@unitarianchristianalliance.org and let us know. Thanks for your support!
Q: If I don’t want to use PayPal, can still I become a Supporting Member?
Yes. The PayPal method is preferred, but we understand that you might have reasons not to use it. If so, first sign up as a Free membership. No PayPal involved. Then you have two options to give.
- Go to the Donate page and click the PayPal button. PayPal offers the option to make a donation by credit card. You do not need a PayPal account for one-time payments. Note that PayPal is still involved. They do the processing of the payment.
- Or, send a check to:
Unitarian Christian Alliance
PO Box 1036
White House, TN 37188
When we receive the payment, we will manually switch you to be a “Supporting Member – Annually.” To do this successfully, we must be able to correlate your payment to your UCA account. If you can, have your information in your Free account match what is on the credit card or on the check (i.e. Name, city, postal code).
IMPORTANT: If we can’t match your contribution with your member account, we can’t set you as a Supporting Member. Let us know if after a week you are still listed as a Free membership on your Subscriptions listing—reach out to us through the Contact page.
Q: I didn’t have a PayPal account when signing up and tried to create one, but something went wrong. What will happen?
Your account with the UCA will be created, and it will say Supporting Member on the Subscriptions page. The UCA site will wait for about a week to allow for a delayed response from PayPal. If the payment doesn’t go through, your membership is switched to Free. You will see this change reflected on the Subscriptions page. There is an option there to upgrade to a paid subscription, and you can try again. If PayPal continues to be a problem, see above for additional ways to contribute.
