Who We Are
The Unitarian Christian Alliance (UCA), a 501(c)(3) registered in White House, TN, is responsible for the processing of your personal data as a data controller. The website is www.unitarianchristianalliance.org. This Privacy Policy complies with the applicable laws in the United States (i.e. HIPAA) and the European Union (i.e. GDPR).

Personal Data Collected
The UCA collects personally identifiable data that is voluntarily provided by you. The UCA may collect your name, email address, a written profile of your own making, denominational affiliation, address, postal code, and country. Your internet protocol (IP) address may be collected.
How is Personal Data Used?
The data collected about you is used to help us ensure proper website function, improve the services UCA provides, and to provide a minimum level of location information to facilitate the UCA’s location-based searching for UCA members and groups. The data collected is based on the lawful purpose of “consent” as allowed under GDPR.
Your data will be processed for the following purposes:
- To inform you about UCA services (e.g. updates, maintenance downtime, policy changes), promotional offers, UCA related advertising, and news.
- Your IP address is logged to troubleshoot website performance and help ensure security.
- To include your profile in the listed results of other members’ location-based searches.
- To capture your feedback on the UCA services.
Transfer to Third Parties
Your data will not be sold or transferred to third parties (e.g. the 1553 AD Genevan authorities) except as may be necessary for providing UCA services. UCA may utilize third parties to:
- Send newsletters
- Capture feedback on UCA services
- Facilitate payment transactions
- Operate the website. This website operates on a WordPress platform, providing a secure environment for these services.
UCA may disclose personal data if it is obligated to do so by a court order or to comply with regulations/laws, or if the UCA was to go through a reorganization or cessation where the data might be transferred to a new entity. The UCA will, if reasonably possible, inform you in advance of these transfers so that you may choose to modify or remove your personal data in advance.
Payments are handled through PayPal. No credit card information is accessed or stored by UCA.
How Long is Personal Data Held?
Information associated with your account will be deleted when you cancel your account. If a paid account does not get renewed, it is downgraded to a free account but remains functional. A user is considered a member until he or she cancels their account.
Your Rights as a Data Subject
You have the right to obtain access to your personal data or to receive a copy of your personal data. You have the right to be informed of the purposes of processing by the UCA.
You have the right to request UCA rectify your personal data or have it erased. You can also request the processing of your personal data to be restricted. Choosing to restrict or erase personal data may prevent access to UCA services.
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data when you have legitimate reasons to do so. As processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent. You have the right to obtain your personal data in a commonly used and machine-readable format. You have the right to transfer this data to another data controller.
No profiling is performed in the processing of your data, and you will not be subjected to automated decisions.
You have the right to exercise any of the preceding rights by emailing privacy@unitarianchristianalliance.org and enclosing a copy of an identity card.
For EU residents, if you have complaints regarding the ways UCA collects and processes your data, you have the right to file a complaint with your European or EU-vested authority.
Safety and Confidentiality
UCA protects your personal information to prevent unauthorized access through physical, administrative, and technical means. The UCA is hosted by Bluehost, a service of Endurance International Group (https://www.endurance.com/privacy/information-security-policy), which provides a physically secure data center and technical security measures. Access to your data is limited to authorized UCA members only.
You shall be solely responsible for the content you upload to the website and the consequences of publishing it. The UCA does not endorse any content, opinions, or beliefs expressed therein. The UCA is not responsible or liable to any third party for the content uploaded or its accuracy. The UCA expressly disclaims any and all liability in connection with content uploaded by members to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. UCA may review and monitor user content and reserves the right to remove content which is inappropriate or which is counter to the purpose of the UCA. The UCA may, at its own discretion, bar registration or terminate an account.
Please note that the UCA assumes no responsibility regarding the privacy policies or practices of non-UCA sites linked on the website. UCA shall not be liable for damages caused by improper use of your data by these third parties.
You are solely responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of your password and preventing unauthorized access to your computer(s) You agree to accept responsibility for all activities which occur within your account. If you become aware of unauthorized or suspicious activity regarding your account, you agree to contact privacy@unitarianchristianalliance.org.
Children
UCA services are not directed to persons under 18, nor do we knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@unitarianchristianalliance.org. We will take steps to promptly remove this information.
Cookies
“Cookies” are small text files which come from the website server and are stored on your computer. Each subsequent access to the UCA website includes the data stored in that cookie. A cookie can only be stored when a request to the server occurs, and can only be stored if the browser is configured to allow their storage.
The UCA uses cookies for session management. When you login, the cookie holds account information so that you do not have to login each time you load a new page on the UCA website. Cookies also store settings which can be used to improve your experience of the website.

Applicable Laws and Jurisdiction
